Every Wednesday I feature a fabulous wedding supplier in the south of England. From photography and cakes to event planning and entertainment, these are the people I love to work with and want to shout about!
This week, Lisa Maylin, owner of Cake Cucina. She started out making wedding and celebration cakes and cupcakes and has now expanded into a bricks-and-mortar shop in Dorchester, where you’ll find the yummiest treats to accompany a good cup of tea!
What service/product do you provide?
We provide bespoke wedding cakes, pretty flower cupcakes and favours.
Describe yourself in three words:
Creative, perfectionist, slightly mad! (technically four words, but I’ll let you off Lisa!)
How did you come to work in weddings?
I started making cakes for my children and progressed from there. I love all the different wedding themes and creating cakes to match.
What do you love most about your job?
Setting up the cake. Its lovely to see all the hard work and planning come together. Completing the beautifully decorated rooms with the final touch, setting up the cake, is always a wonderful moment.
What part of a wedding makes you go ‘YES!’?
Receiving lovely emails from the bride and groom. Been lucky enough to have received lots of lovely comments, even a few which have made me cry. I feel extremely honoured that our cakes have made their day that extra bit special.
If you were getting married tomorrow, what would you wear?
Well let me see, an apron, hair net… Joking, honest!! Something simple, classic and elegant.
